Johan Cruyff, Paul Romer, Marjan Olfers, Edgar Davids and Ten Have offered their resignations, but the 44-year-old insists he would work sincerely until the last day.
Ajax Amsterdam recently announced on their official website that the club’s supervisory board members have agreed to leave their posst as soon as the club finds suitable replacements.
The board members, which includes the legendary Johan Cruyff, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edgar-c11882 Davids and Steven ten Have, were appointed in July 2011.
However, Ten Have has insisted that he will continue serving his beloved club until the last day and ensure that the Amsterdammers are not affected by the off-field crisis.
The 44-year-old said while talking to NUsport:
“We will ensure that our successors are fully capable of handling off-field affairs effectively at Amsterdam Arena. I love Ajax, which is a feeling, and I will not let anything affect this feeling. I will work sincerely until my last day in Amsterdam”.
The club’s supervisory board made headlines for all the wrong reasons in November 2011. Davids, Olfers, Romer and Ten had appointed Louis van Gaal as the club’s new CEO without the consent of Cruyff.
The legendary footballer took the club to court in order to suspend the appointment of the former Bayern Munich boss. A Haarlem court suspended the 60-year-old’s appointment on a temporary basis back in December 2011. Van Gaal was due to take charge in June
2012.
On Monday, February 6, the Dutch court prohibited the appointment of the former Bundesliga giants’ boss. With the court’s decision falling in favour of the legendary No. 14, it seemed like the off the field drama would come to an end.
However, the long-running saga has now taken another twist as the supervisory board has offered to resign, though it was expected that the club’s shareholders would be disbanding the board in a meeting on Friday, February 10.
Annual General Meeting (http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ava-c38562) and the Works Council (OR) will now gather to suggest new supervisory board members.
Ajax’s off-field inconsistencies have affected the club’s on-field performances. The Amsterdammers are currently placed sixth in the Eredivisie table, trailing the current league leaders http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven by a mighty eight points.
