The Amsterdammers captain has been linked with several clubs following his phenomenal performances and a move to White Hart Lane could materialise this summer.

The 24-year-old has been in phenomenal form since the start of the ongoing 2011/12 campaign. His good performances have not gone unnoticed outside of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Manchester City and Newcastle United have been linked to the Belgian
stopper along with the Lilywhites.
However, his teammate Alderweireld thinks that a move to White hart Lane will suit his compatriot better.
“I think he's ready for a next step in his career. He's proving that with his constant level during matches”, Alderweireld was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
The central defender was all praise for the Lilywhites and asserted that they are one of the best teams playing in the Barclays English Premier League.
“Tottenham Hotspur would be a beautiful club for him. They're playing in the top of a wonderful competition. He would also have a big chance to become a player for the first 11”, Alderweireld added.
The Belgian International, who has represented the Amsterdammers in 79 matches, asserted that Vertonghen will always prioritise game time over excessive wages.
“For Jan the money is not important, he's got more important considerations. Of course, personally I hope he stays at Ajax. He's extremely important for our team”, the 23-year-old concluded.
Vertonghen is a product of Ajax’s youth academy and started his career at Amsterdam Arena in the 2006/07 season. He made rapid improvement in his game, and became a regular for the Amsterdammers at the start of the 2008/09 campaign.
The 24-year-old has an ongoing contract that will keep him at Amsterdam Arena until the summer of 2013. Reports indicate that the Amsterdam giants will not let go of their prized asset for anything less than 12 million Euros.
