The Dutch midfielder admits that he would love to move the English Premier League side, but insists that his entire focus currently lies with the Eredivisie champions.
Ajax Amsterdam midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vurnon-Anita-c36486, has made it clear that he would be more than interested to join Newcastle United this summer. The English Premier League outfit recently tabled a bid to acquire the talented defensive midfielder’s signature, but the
Amsterdammers management turned down the offer.
The 23-year-old, who came off the ranks of the Amsterdam giants’ youth academy, started his professional career at Amsterdam Arena in the 2005/06 season.
Despite facing stiff competition early on in his career, the promising youngster made rapid developments to his game to develop himself into one of the key players in the squad.
His impressive performances at the centre of the park in the past couple of seasons played an integral role for De Joden to lift back-to-back Eredivisie titles.
Following his consistent showings, several top flight clubs have expressed keen interest in luring the Dutch international away from Amsterdam Arena this summer, including the likes of Newcastle, and the midfielder has confessed that he will happily move
to the Magpies.
“Newcastle are a beautiful club. I'm open to anything. We'll see what happens, but there's nothing wrong with listening to Ajax and what interested clubs have to say”, Anita was quoted as saying to the media.
The Dutchman, who has thus far donned the jersey of the Amsterdam giants in 103 Eredivisie matches, went on to insist that he will move to the Magpies, if something interesting comes up regardless of their failure to qualify for UEFA Champions League.
“I will seriously consider anything that comes up. Does it matter to me that Newcastle are not in the Champions League? No. However, I'm an Ajax player for now. I'm focusing on Ajax. Newcastle's interest has made me think about a potential transfer, though.
It's a sign that I'm on the right track and have to keep this up. I haven't set a deadline for when I want clarity. I'll just see how this pans out”, Anita concluded.
The versatile midfielder has an ongoing contract at Ajax that runs until the summer of 2014.
