Former Indian captain Ajay Jadeja, on Friday lavished praise on double centurion http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CA-Pujara-c1209 saying he was impressed with the rookie batsman’s hunger for runs.
"What stands out for me is someone who is not content. Pujara even after completing his hundred, worked hard to get to the double century. He’s showing he wants to get better, and that’s a good sign," said Jadeja while speaking to media reporters yesterday.
Pujara, 24, was the pick of Indian batsmen in the first innings of the ongoing first Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in Ahmedabad, scoring an unbeaten 206 before the hosts decided to declare the innings on 521 for 8 in the final session on day two. The right-hander batted for 513 minutes for his unbeaten double century, and hardly played a rash shot during his almost eight-hour stay at the crease.
The right-handed batsman hailing from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gujarat-c787 also said that he never wanted to play a rash shot, even in domestic cricket, and this was the reason behind his impressive record of nine 150-plus scores in his last ten first-class centuries.
While speaking to media reporters at the post-day press conference on Friday, the emerging No.3 batsman said that there was always a price on his wicket.
"I never like to get out. There's always a price on my wicket," said Pujara, who is being compared to veteran http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229 by all and sundry for his calm assurance and flawless technique. "Even after scoring a double-hundred I never wanted to give away my wicket. That's the reason why I'm able to score big runs," he added further.
Pujara, who missed out a double ton against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 in August, also missed out on a century during the warm-up match against the Poms earlier this month, scoring a fluent 87 before being caught by Anderson off Panesar. He said that missing that ton in the practice match was good as it kept him motivated to score a century and then convert it into a double ton at the international stage.
"If I had ended up scoring a hundred, I wouldn't have had the same motivation to score a hundred and then turn it into a double-hundred," reckoned the middle-order batsman.
