Ajay Jayaram beats Nikita Khakimov in opening round of 2012 Syed Modi International India GPG
Men’s Singles shuttler Ajay Jayaram employed all of his brilliance in the game and moved into second round of Shaheed Dr. K.L. Garg - Syed Modi International India GPG on December 19, 2012.
He thrashed Nikita Khakimov in his opening match by registering a favourable result of 21-15 and 21-13.
This brief encounter took place in local badminton complex of Lucknow, India and Ajay Jayaram relished full benefits of home ground and crowd.
On the other hand, the Russian campaigner looked confused throughout this tussle as he could not claim even a single match point.
Nikita Khakimov lost control straight away in the beginning and failed to make amends until the final moments.
The World Number 31 Indian shuttler established a strong grip without wasting any time and maintained his dominance throughout this battle.
In the opening game, Ajay Jayaram mounted pressure by clinching four consecutive points and then magnified the impact by putting a mountainous figure of 7.
Though, he lost focus in next couple of rallies and allowed his challenger to level the score at 7-7 but then few back-to-back points helped him to finish first half of the set with an impressive total of 11.
After the mid-game break, Ajay Jayaram strengthened his grip by adding many valuable points in his score.
He did not drop his pace and left the opposing shuttler far behind with a significant margin of 21-15.
The second set of match was relatively a dead contest as the Russian player remained grounded in most part of the game.
Nikita Khakimov started in a commendable manner and matched his rival’s skills in the preliminary stage.
However, he could not carry this rhythm and let many vital points slip from his hands. This passive approach hit him badly as Ajay Jayaram established an indomitable lead of five points before the half time.
After the one-minute break, Ajay gathered some pace and widened the gap on points table. He placed an overwhelming total of 17-8 and then sent his competitor packing with a staggering knock of 21-13.
Now he will test his badminton skills against Sukamta Evert in the second round of Shaheed Dr. K.L. Garg - Syed Modi International India GPG.
