Ajay Jayaram hammers Yogendran Khrishnan in second round clash at Australian Open Grand Prix Gold
India’s Ajay Jayaram stamped his superiority in Men’s Singles second round encounter when he hammered Malaysia’s Yogendran Khrishnan at the 2012 Australian Open Grand Prix Gold at Sydney, Australia, on Wednesday, April 4.
Jayaram, who is World Number 27 and 11th seed in Men’s Singles draw of the Australian Open, played with wonderful precision and thrashed his Malaysian opponent in a crushing fashion.
The talented Indian did not show mercy to Yogendran and ended the match in straight games by taking just 32 minutes.
On the other hand, the Malaysian had not answer to the impressive play of his higher ranked Indian opponent and crashed out without taking any game.
Jayaram started his elevated performance from the opening points of first set. However, his opponent also played remarkable game and remained close.
Both men played with precision by keeping the pace of rallies high. The higher ranked Indian played attacking badminton while Yogendran was employing his impressive defensive strokes.
Until the mid-game interval in the first set, Jayaram managed to take a three-point lead of 11-8 on the score board.
After the interval, Jayaram geared up his speed in all areas and remained successful in stretching his lead. He did not let his Malaysian opponent to reduce the deficit by playing to his maximum speed.
The Indian was in impressive form at this stage and managed to win the set with a five-point advantage of 21-16.
In the second set, Jayaram took no time in taking control of the game by accelerating his speed in all areas. He dictated the pace of rallies and troubled his opponent by keeping the pace high.
Jayaram continued his roller-coaster progress in the opening half and reached at 11-4 until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the Indian did not drop his speed and also kept the tempo fast. He was playing on a different level against Yogendran who had no answer to the perfect shot placement of his opponent.
Jayaram bagged the second game with a wonderful ease by a tremendous 21-9 score on the board.
The Indian won this encounter in 32 minutes with a convincing margin of 21-16 and 21-9.
