India’s impressive player Ajay Jayaram proved his mettle and advanced into the next stage after crushing Singapore’s Zi Liang Derek Wong in Men’s Singles first round at the Yonex Japan Open 2012 on Wednesday, September 19, in Japan.
The un-seeded Jayaram, who is now World Number 29 in Men’s Singles category, put up spectacular show of top class badminton and emerged as the winner in just 26 minutes in a spectacular fashion.
Indian boy was in remarkable form on court as he did not show any respect to his lower ranked Singaporean rival in the whole contest and easily ended it up in straight games with a dominating margin on score board.
On the other hand, the World Number 63 Zi Liang played confusing game as he failed to target the loopholes of his Indian challenger and crashed out by losing the match in straight games without showing his brilliance.
Jayaram showed a wonderful performance and presented a spectacular show of attacking and positive badminton. He remained in remarkable form all the way in opening half and grabbed a stunning 11-4 lead on the board.
In the concluding half of opening set, Jayaram continued putting up wonderful show without showing any respect to his opponent. He employed powerful smashes and impressive net shots which helped him to remain in dominating position.
The Indian shuttler did not face any considerable trouble from Zi Liang in the first game and took it easily with a 21-14 score on the board.
Zi Liang tried to show positive run on court in the following set and played aggressive badminton in opening rallies.
However, Jayaram managed to control the affairs by dictating the pace of rallies and took an 11-8 lead until the break.
Jayaram continued pushing his rival on back foot in the concluding half of second game and he did not face any considerable trouble in finishing off the set with a crushing margin of 21-14.
The in-form Indian player easily sent Zi Liang packing in just 26 minutes by ending up the battle in straight sets with a 21-14 and 21-14 score on the board.
