Ajay Jayaram praises Chong Wei’s brilliance after losing India Open pre quarter-finals
The top Men’s Singles shuttler of India, Ajay Jayaram praised the court skills of badminton king Lee Chong Wei after losing to him in second round of Yonex Sunrise India Open on April 26, 2012.
Though, Jayaram surrendered against Malaysian maestro but he walked tall after putting a great resistance in 47-minute tussle.
On the other hand, Chong Wei finished the battle with 21-16, 15-21 and 21-5 scores in his favour.
World Number 27 shuttler Ajay Jayaram admitted that he could not match his rival’s experience and brilliance in the game as he dominated the proceedings.
He said, "Lee sustained the same momentum all throughout the match. He is extremely fit and moves in the court very well. He is equally good in his defence as his attack."
The start of match was not really great for the Indian campaigner as he went down despite of having the upper hand in most part of the first set.
Jayaram stood tall in opening part of game and was leading until 15-10 but the Malaysian ace first levelled the score at 16-16 and then bagged first match point with notable margin of 21-16.
In second set, the Indian stunned his higher ranked opponent with some masterly crafted strokes and entered in a break with a comfortable lead of four points.
After the interval, he proceeded with same momentum and ended second set with a favourable margin of 21-15.
However, he could not enjoy his form in the decider as he got pale in front of Chong Wei. He admitted that he lost focus after winning the second set which ultimately affected his performance in the third set.
Jayaram said, "I tried to match his strokes which also culminated into a lot of errors. I got excited after the second game and it should not have happened. I am terribly disappointed with the way I started the third game."
Chong Wei proved himself the Worlds best on the court in the concluding game of the match as he wrapped the show with a significant lead of 17 points in final total of 21-5.
Now India has its stake in shape of Parupalli Kashyap who is going to face Chinese master Chen Jin in the quarter-finals of India Open 2012.
