Ajay Jayaram proceeds to Men’s Singles quarter-finals – India Open Update

Men’s Singles expert Ajay Jayaram stretched his winning streak and marched into the quarter-final round of Yonex Sunrise India Open after beating Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka on Thursday, April 25, 2013.
This 31-minute tussle took place in local badminton complex of New Delhi and it ended in just two games with decisive figures of 21-15 and 21-12.
Ajay, who was an unseeded player in this tournament, grabbed all the intentions by putting a splendid performance in the preliminary rounds of this Super Series.
On the other hand, the Indonesian campaigner failed to repeat the history and crashed out of this event in a woeful manner.
The spirited Indian shuttler raised his chances of success by claiming the opening match point. He launched an intensive attack and pushed his competitor on the back foot. This invasion enabled him to establish an instant lead.
Though, Dionysius showed some resistance but his fluctuated performance jeopardised his stakes. He kept on making mistakes and finished first half of the set with a significant deficit. He failed to come out of his rival’s influence even after the mid-game
break and lost this crucial set.
Meanwhile, Ajay Jayaram showed consistency in his performance and proved his supremacy in all areas of the game.
He prevailed in many consecutive rallies and widened the gap on points table in third quarter of the set. This lead proved final blow for the Indonesian shuttler and he surrendered after reading 15-21 score on the board.
The second set of match proved just a replay of previous one as the native shuttler relished full benefits of home ground and crowd and kept his challenger at the lower end.
Initially, Dionysius displayed some class and it was felt that he will create some trouble for the Indian campaigner.
However, Ajay Jayaram proved all the predictions wrong and reinstated his dominance immediately after the establishing rallies.
He improvised his strategy and finished first half of the set with an upper hand. After the one-minute interval, Ajay was everywhere on the court.
He did not give his competitor even a single chance to come back and sent him packing with 21-12 score.
