Akasaka dominant in the Iradio Cracked I Handicap at Dundalk on 4th May
The line-up for the Iradio Cracked I Handicap is highly competitive with majority of the entries who are already experienced at racing at Dundalk and some have even celebrated success there. The race will be held over a mile, two furlongs and 150 yards on
Friday, 4th May. Taking part in the €8,970 contest are ten four-year and older thoroughbreds.
The most accomplished entry among the entire line-up is Akasaka, King’s Best’s five-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Daganya. He has raced five times during the new season with two starts credited against his name as wins. He got placed at two other occasions
and the worst case scenario that the five-year-old had to face was the ninth position on the field of ten.
He had never raced at Dundalk before but once he did get active there, it turned out to be five races in a row.
His seasonal debut was in the Dundalk Winter Racing Handicap on 6th January over a mile. Riding with Emmet McNamara, Akasaka led the 5/1 favourite runner up of the race, Black N Brew, by one and a half length.
Settling third behind the winner was Spin Of A Coin.
This was his first race at the race course and the seasonal debut but even then he did not leave any doubt in proving his potential.
His second try of the season was in the www.Dundalkstadium.Com Handicap on 27th January over a mile. He could not keep up with the consistency in the performance and thus ended third behind the winner, Iron Major. Finishing the closest to the
winner was Joe Eile.
The 3/1 favourite of the race, Tarrsille, ended eighth on the field of eleven.
Deceiving the 4/1 favoruite of the Ice-Vibe.Com Horseware Ireland Handicap, Elwazeer, by a short head’s difference, Akasaka settled as the runner up. The mile’s race on 10th February was won by If Per Chance who was paired up with Shane Foley.
Akasaka’s most recent try in the www.Thetote.Com Claiming Race on 30th March over a mile turned into a win for the 10/11 favourite of the race.
Baitsileir was the runner up of the race and was soon followed in by Bold Thady Quill.
He will have to stay at guard from Iron Major, Barrow Island, Hunting Goddess, East Of Tara and Rodriguez.
