Akeed Mofeed will compete against some tough competitors in the Investec Derby
Akeed Mofeed, trained by John M. Oxx, for owners, Rabbah Bloodstock Limited, will enter the Investec Derby as a second favourite.
Mandaean, Swedish Sailor and Kesampour would most likely be racing with odds of around 25-1, whereas Main Sequence has a slim edge with regard to winning as he will enter the race with odds of 66-1.
Akeed Mofeed, son of Dubawi, out of mare Wonder Why, triumphed in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 2yo (C & G) Maiden, held at Leopardstown on 3rd September, 2011.
Mounted by J. Murtagh, he defeated race favourite Athens by a margin of 5 lengths.
French Fifteen, the three-year-old son of Turtle Bowl, out of Spring Morning, will also compete in the race.
Trained by N. Clement, the young runner is owned by H. H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Paired with renowned jockey Olivier Peslier, he notched a tremendous victory in his seasonal debut, in the Prix Djebel (Group 3) (3yo Colts & Geldings) (Turf) at Maisons-Laffitte yesterday, on 5th April, 2012.
He won the race narrowly, defeating evening’s favourite, Abtaal by a neck.
George Primarolo , spokesman for Betfred spoke of his confidence in French Fifteen’s ability as he told the press that:
"French Fifteen showed that he’d come on a bundle over the winter and the Prix Djebel is a fairly useful guide as it was used as a stepping stone for subsequent 2,000 Guineas winner Makfi a couple of years ago."
Owned by the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing-Pocahontas , Bonfire will race with odds of 16 to 1.
Trained by Andrew Balding, the son of Manduro, out of Night Frolic, triumphed in the British Stallion Studs E B F Molson Coors Maiden Stakes (Div II) at Salisbury, on 28th September, 2011.
Ridden by David Probert, he raced with odds of 7 to 2 as a favourite and bolted through the track.
He defeated the Ralph Beckett trained Cubanita by 2 lengths.
