Akinspirit spiriting to win at Dundalk – Apprentice Handicap Preview
Michael Butler’s black gelding, Akinspirit, will unleash immense fighting spirit at Dundalk racecourse on Friday, March 2 and convincingly notch up top spot in Cargotec Ireland Apprentice Handicap.
The €5,520 high-profile contest has received seven entries including Aragorn Rouge, Akinspirit, Shake The Bucket, Solid Air, Gort Na Mona, Peggarty and Shisha Threesixty.
The race of 1m2f150y distance will commence at 8:20 (GMT). Each of the seven runners possesses good form at the moment and the event is predicted to be packed with thrill.
Akinspirit seems to be in the most favourable position to stand for success today. The veteran gelding has won 6 out of his total 31 races so far.
The eight-year-old runner made his debut in September 2006. He accomplished a fabulous hat-trick during June-July 2009.
The brilliant horse enjoyed great time during the last year. After achieving a big triumph in August 2011, Akinspirit went on to win another big race in the month of September.
While running against 21 rivals in his last outing on October 5, 2011, the gelding grabbed 13th position. His total earning to date is £34,922.
The J F Salter-owned runner poses to be in good form at the moment. If he manages to capitalise on it properly, he will surely be able to finish first today and Dundalk, the venue where he has run just for three times in his long career.
Akinspirit’s chances to win today are as high as 90 percent.
Out of the other half a dozen runners, Shake The Bucket and Aragorn Rouge are also likely to show decent runs.
Shake The Bucket has 3 victories to his credit in 10-race career. Niall Madden’s black gelding won both of his last two outings. The young runner is expected to fight well for the top position but he is more likely to finish second.
Aragorn Rouge picked up immense form by achieved the first and last two victories of his career during the first two months of the calendar year. Overall, he has run for 14 times to date. He will also pose tough challenge to Akinspirit.
With each of the entries having great momentum, there is going to be a heated competition today at Dundalk. Akinspirit will have to fight hard for manoeuvring victory to his favour. Good luck to all the horses.
