Akmal, Butt may be involved in Asia Cup spot-fixing as well
The Pakistani woes seem to be compounding by the day. After the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 Yard and the International Cricket Council to give their mobile phone records. This is a part of another spot-fixing investigation they'll be sujbected to.

According to the Daily Mail, wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal and suspended captain Salman Butt were being asked by the ICC to hand over the records after they were suspected of wrongdoing in the previous edition of the Asia Cup. The Asia Cup was played in July this year, and had seen Pakistan bow out of the tournament after losing their first two games to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. The letters sent by the ICC and Scotland Yard went sent 21 August, before the News of the World broke their sensational spot-fixing story.

ICC’s Anti Corruption and Security Unit has also asked the players to co-operate with them, but it was not reported whether the players had handed over the required documents.

If this report is indeed true, then this is the third tournament which will be under the scanner. Earlier, the Lord’s Test match between England and Pakistan had seen the pair of Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir bowl a couple of no-balls after a book-maker had instructed them to do so. The Sydney Test match of 2010 between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and Pakistan is also under a cloud of match-fixing, after the Pakistanis had lost a game that they should have won. In that game, Akmal had dropped three catches and missed a simple run-out chance to dismiss Michael Hussey.

The issue that this news may cause stems from the fact that the English cricketers had earlier expressed their reluctance to play against the tainted cricketers, following which three of the Pakistanis were suspended. With Akmal’s alleged role coming into the picture, things could get difficult for the PCB again.
