Akvile Stapusaityte beats Claudia Vogelgsang to enter into main round of 2011 Dutch Open Grand Prix
Lithuania’s passionate shuttler, Akvile Stapusaityte, has made her way into the Women’s Singles main round after beating Germany’s Claudia Vogelgsang in the qualifying round of the 2011 Dutch Open Grand Prix, in Netherlands, on Tuesday, October 11.
Stapusaityte lived up to the expectations as she played phenomenal badminton in her last match in the qualifying round of the Dutch Open. The impressive game of Lithuanian shuttler earned her victory in straight games against the German, who completely failed
to play positive game.
The Lithuanian played fabulous game in both sets by maintaining a high pace throughout the match. Vogelgsang tried to match the speed of the game in the starting points but failed, as she lost control over the pace and committed many unforced errors and
eventually lost the match.
The start of the first game was interesting when both ladies played a few wonderful rallies. However, Stapusaityte started to dominate the game as the match progressed. She played striking badminton by executing powerful smashes on the side lines and set
up a comfortable lead of 11-6 in the opening half.
After the break, the German employed a few attacking strokes to reduce the deficit but failed as her rival was in complete control of the game. Stapusaityte remained far ahead of her German opponent and finished the set with an impressive score of 21-12
by spending just 12 minutes in the court.
In the second set of this Women’s Singles match, both ladies opened the game in a composed way. Nevertheless, Stapusaityte occupied the driving seat without wasting any time and started to construct a comfortable gap. Until the break, the in-form Lithuanian
shuttler was leading by a wonderful score of 11-5.
In the second half of the second set, Vogelgsang almost gave up as she slowed down her speed and started to take the bird late. Stapusaityte stretched her lead by playing with precision and won the set by an incredible margin of 21-10 in just 10 minutes.
The end result of this 22-minute qualifying-round battle was 21-12 and 21-10.
