Akward dinner??? Advice please??

Question

Ok i barely know this guy and he asked me out like more than a freind .I told him i just wanted to be friends.... I told him he shouldnt feel akward and we can still be friends so we been talking as friends... BUT i barely know him and he asked me to dinner with friends so i said Yes... this is going to be an akward dinner .... My friends doesnt know his friends and him and i barely know him and his friends and nobody really knows each other.....Is it ok if i tell him the truth that this is going to be a little akward???

It's fine to tell him that it's awkward. He probably thinks it is too. Don't worry about the dinner, awkward situations are often quite funny, and if you have a lot of people there, the tension is bound to break, someone has to have something in common! Just go into it with a positive attitude, and do your best to be outgoing with the people you don't know. Besides, if you have friends with you, I'm sure they'll watch your back and make sure things don't get too weird. Have as much fun as you can, and don't forget to enjoy the food!

If i were u, since you barely know the guy, then i would be straight up with him and tell him that!

Yea tell him.  No big deal.  Some advice:  Don't just sit there like a bump on a log.  Ask people questions and make fun and friendly comments. Here are some:

1.  I love that dress.

2.  Hi I'm ______, what's your name.

3.  This is a great place! (even if it's not).  Who here has been here before?  

4.  Any suggestions on what to order?

Now, don't just rattle off a bunch of questions in a row.  Feed off of the answers.  It's sort of an art form to not talk too much or too little.  But I'd rather be in a social scene where someone talked too much than someone who just sat there, blank.  What if everyone were blank?  It'd be a disaster.  Don't be nervous.  Even if the evening sucks it will be a good experience in social graces.  Have fun!
