Al Bernstein reckons Carl Froch and Glen Johnson should make a very good fight – Boxing news
Showtime boxing analyst Al Bernstein reckons that Carl Froch and Glen Johnson should make a very good fight for the audience.
Bernstein was present at Caesar’s Atlantic City on Friday at the weigh-in of both pugilists who will take on each other Saturday in the semi-final match of the Super Six Classics tournament. The winner will then face the American unbeaten Andre Ward in the
final.
Bernstein shared his thoughts with David Greisman and Tim Starks, who work for a couple of boxing websites.
He told them that he Johnson has impressed him by losing a lot of weight and therefore he is expecting a very good fight from both boxers.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “It’s really interesting fight. I think it’s a pick ‘em fight. I notice that Glen Johnson’s at 166. I don’t want to read too much into it, but did he lose too much weight? I don’t know. I know that they were at that
weight fairly early. Did they get to weight too early? I don’t know. But the weight issue notwithstanding, I think it’s a fascinating style matchup. I think it should make for a very good fight.”
Bernstein was also asked if it was indicative what everyone saw in Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch and Arthur Abraham’s match in regards to what they are going to see.
Bernstein replied by saying, “I don’t know if it’s instructive in term of that [Froch] will be able to fight that way, but he wants to fight that way.”
He told reporters that The Road Warrior Johnson is a completely different fighter from Arthur Abraham in term of the offensive input. He said Abraham does not come forward that much whereas Johnson, who is also of Abraham’s size, is an aggressive fighter.
He said Johnson has the capabilities to attack his opponent from different angles.
Let’s see who smiles at the end of this mega bout.
