Al Bonanni: Jean Pascal faced no injury he just realised he is unfit for Tavoris Cloud – Boxing News
Al Bonanni, trainer Tavoris Cloud, while sharing his thoughts on Jean Pascal’s injury, commented that he cannot believe Jean is doing such an absurd thing, adding that he most probably knew he is not fit at all to collide with Cloud.
The current IBF light heavyweight champion’s trainer further remarked that he believes Pascal has realised since he has not fought for almost a year therefore we have the ability to nail him easily, adding that we were completely ready in fact thinking of
going through Pascal like a goose.
The aforementioned comments though are harsh yet are from a trainer who has already faced such scenarios happen with his student twice therefore frustration is quite natural and genuine.
Jean and Cloud were set to headline the pay-per-view jointly organised by Don King of Don King Promotions and Yvon Michel of GYM (GroupeYvonMichel). The show was scheduled to be televised live on August 11, 2012 on Showtime but due to the right hand injury
faced by Jean the fight card and the event was altogether scrapped.
The news hit hard and Cloud camp just took it as a cheap attempt to gain some more time. Bonanni, who revealed the news in the first place, while sharing his view point on the news, commented that he believes that Pascal knew something about his under-par
fitness.
Bonanni stated, “I just can’t believe he is doing this. I think he has known for some time that he was not fit to fight for whatever reason. He hasn’t fought for (more than a year). We would have just destroyed him. We would have gone through him like through
a goose. Whether it’s his hand, or his weight, is of no consequence to us. It’s just typical in the life of Tavoris Cloud. We’re always ready and then something comes up.”
On the other hand, Yvon in a detailed explanation has already made clear that the decision was made after the camp doctor’s advice who despite being pressurised was not willing to allow injured Pascal enter the ring against Tavoris.
Bonanni strongly thumbed down rumours regarding some problem on Cloud Camp side. Tavoris’ trainer was of the view that Cloud is perfect and in great shape, adding that they were training very hard when because of Jean camp’s request Showtime called us and
notified about the cancellation of the conference call.
The news is now confirmed from both sides who are moving forward to come up with a new date. At the moment, October 13, 2012 has been proposed by Yvon Michel but Showtime is not willing to accept it as a possible bout night.
Pascal-Cloud pay-per-view postponement has also jeopardised Adonis Stevenson and Don George title eliminator bout regarding which no update is available at the moment.
