Al Gore the anti-environmentalist?

On 60 minutes they mentioned that Al Gore's mansion used 20 times the amount of energy of the average home, so he bought 33 solar panels for the roof. What they failed to mention was that now his mansion only uses 19 times the amount of the averagae home. Did they just not research the capacity of solar panels?

33 Panels is a huge area. The roof probably will not hold any more panels. Even with as many panels it is only about 2KW at peak hours. Maybe he is learning that Solar may not be the answer, particularly in Nashville where there is a lot of cloudy days. Those 33 panels probably cost over $20,000 installed and will never pay back.

He could care less anyway. He is just another wealthy elite that will not change their lifestyle. They just want us to change ours.

God Bless I wish we could afford solar panels, but the man worked hard for his money and has a right to live out his earnings he is a huge contributor and did not claim to be a radicalist on any issue.  It's like some celebs saying use one tissue square in the b-room, good Idea just doesn't work for me personally and I am a tiny person, on the whole environmental issue thank god the man did his research and take what you can get!..........something or nothing?  Besides more energy than anyone, is that the orange county riches or the tent living folk?  (PS just a low income mom with no political ties)

Al Gore is the same as a TV preacher who has an affair or picks up a prostitute. He would be called a hypocrite by most people. There is no way he would get a free ride.

Gore listened to advisers about building/remodeling this home. He should have checked with engineers, contractors, someone with experience in actually building homes. While I'm sure that he meant well, he just listened to the wrong people, who in turn were probably misled by someone claiming that they knew all the facts.
