Al Wasl discard claims that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Maradona-c11160 is the second highest paid manager
The Emirati based club, Al Wasl, have denied claims that regarded their new coach, Diego Maradona, to be the second highest paid manager behind http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid’s Jose Mourinho. The club officials confirmed that there is no such thing mentioned on the contract
of the Argentine and suggested the Media personnel’s to stay quiet until the contract is revealed. It is believed that the contract details will go public only after the club’s chairman, Marwan bin Bayat, and Maradona present them sometime in June during a
press conference.
Media, from different parts of Europe, revealed that Maradona’s contract was worth somewhere between 10 million to 34 million Dollars. However, the club officials have clearly stated that these are all rumours as different Media groups want to be in the
limelight by creating such stories.
Some news headlines also kept on insisting on the same thing but all of these speculations have already been declined by the higher club officials. Maradona would officially take charge of the club from June and has decided to stay away from these rumours.
Media Personnel also tried to quiz the 50-year-old over the ongoing issue but he refused to talk on the issue, saying that everything would unfold in a month’s time.
An official statement from the club said, "A number of South American and Spanish media portals have fabricated false headlines and stories about the actual value of the contract with the aim of attracting readers and influencing other media outlets. Unsubstantial
news headlines — over the past two days suggest the value of Maradona's contract with Al Wasl to be between $10m (Dh36.7m) to $34.5m. This has resulted in confusion and debate.”
Maradona was appointed the coach of the Cheetahs in 2011 following a disappointing campaign headed by former interim coach, Khaldoon Al Mubarak. Al Wasl finished the season fourth in the League table and only managed to go through to the semi-finals stage
of Presidents Cup and Etisalat Cup.
Their inability to win any Silverware this season led to the exit of Khalifa Mubarak, which was immediately followed by Maradona’s appointment. The Argentinean would now take over the charge in June, when his contract goes public in response to the false
claims made by the Media.
