Im on a 6'4 shortboard right now. Not that good for smaller waves. I would like to buy either board used or should I have a local shaper make me the same one like yater. Also if you have ridden one could you tell me what its like. thanks

  1. the biscuit is something a person could try, but probably wouldn't want to ride every time. The pod is something you could ride everyday. If you're going to borrow or demo the board, go with the biscuit. But if you're going to actually buy the board, go with the pod.

  2. you are right

  3. If you can get a local shaper to do it, I'd say it's better since it's more finely tuned to you, and it would be cheaper.  As good as the CI boards are, they're not exactly cheap since they've established a name along with Burton.

But if you do end up going with a Merrick, I'd agree, try a Flyer or a Flyer II.  I've tried both and they work wonders in smaller surf.  But a Biscuit could be super fun as you can nose ride the h**l out of that thing.  It's like a micro-mini-mal.  Just remember, not all of us can be like Machado though!

The Pod is definitely fun too!  The snub nose helps with wave catching and planing.  Ride maybe a 5'6" to 5'8".  This thing flies.

  4. i've ridden the biscuit before so i can tell you a little about it. i've never ridden the pod before though. the biscuit is a fatty; mine was a 5'4", 21", 3" i think. it was like riding a longboard. i could hang ten no problem on that thing and it's super buoyant. pretty good in small surf but you are looking at merrick boards, you should consider the flyer which is good in small-medium surf but isn't as wide or thick as the biscuit or pod.
