  1. use a background generator instead. and that should help.

type background generator into google and find one that is easy enough to use

  2. The 'Custom' feature indicates the image must be specifically sized.

I sized mine through the MSPaint.exe program, filed it in My Pictures as a jpeg & finally posted it as shown. *

It took more than one effort, [sometimes 4-5 efforts are required] & the lag time to 'display' options causes some anxiety but patience, trial & error does pay off...it helps if all other programs & windows are closed with  clean temporary internet files, refreshed connections, scans done...you know the drill...

    Best wishes, K-den, M1

  3. If you are referring to 360, the "About Me" section is not where you put a background image.

You can either use the backgrounds created by Yahoo, which you can't adjust in any way OR you can create a custom theme. If you want to use the pre-made background, click on the "My Page" link next to your "Home" link. Then, at the top under that line of links is the word "Theme: [name of whatever theme you currently have]." Click the "Change Theme" link that's directly under those words. Select one and click the "Apply Theme" button. If you want to customize your theme, see below:

If you've NEVER WORKED with your custom theme before:

After logging into 360, click on the "My Page" link next to your "Home" link. Then, at the top under that line of links is the word "Theme: [name of whatever theme you currently have]." Click the "Change Theme" link that's directly under those words.

On the new page that comes up, there's a paragraph stating "Select a Theme - Change the look of your Yahoo! 360° page by picking a theme. Click "Apply Theme" to make the change." Directly under that click a link called "Customize Your Theme." A new "Customize Your Theme" window will pop up where you can insert .jpg images as well as customize colors.

If you HAVE WORKED with the custom theme window before:

Click the "Edit Custom Theme" link toward the top left of your "My Page."

If you want an image to fill the entire 360 space, it should be at least 1064 pixels wide (or slightly more) by 2100-2200 pixels in height. Upload the image as a single background image and choose to tile it. You'll have to play around with it a bit to get it right (lower resolution, cropping, and other size adjustments get it under 360 specifications) by using a photo editor like Microsoft Paint, which is on most Windows computers in the Accessories section. I personally have an old version of Adobe Photoshop that I use. Typically it's the height dimension that needs increasing and the decreasing of quality upon saving the image as a JPEG. Also, you will have breaks depending on the length of your blog area, but at least you can get your top page to have no breaks.

OR you can get really fancy. Instead of uploading a single image tiled, you can upload an image for the top and one for the bottom. If the images have the same color background and you make the page background that color, then it will look seamless. ;-)

As far as colors go, scroll down in the popup window, past the upload image part, to get to where you can change colors. I copy and paste color codes from this site - http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.... . It's just faster that way. You can also type the word - transparent - instead of a color code, so that your background shows through. OR you can just click on the little box next to the right of the item, move the color scroll bar up and down, then click around in the color square with your mouse (or click the transparent option).

Here is a directory of wallpaper/background sites: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2006/12/... . You can also search for images via keyword searches on Google at http://images.google.com . Right-click on the image and choose "Save Image As" or something similar to save an image to your hard drive.

You may want to TRY joining these groups, as they may provide some good tips as well:

    http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Y-360...

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/360pimpyou...

    Another site: http://360themes.com

REMEMBER: Your background picture must be JPEG formatted (.jpg, .jpeg, or .jpe as the extension) and under 250KB in file size.

TIP: If you are browsing public 360 pages and you see a theme that you like, click on "Make This Theme Mine" link to overwrite your theme with that one (located just above the counter on the Top Page - left side). This excludes pictures the person may have uploaded (i.e. images in the background).

    Good luck! Enjoy!
