The Toulouse coach believes that Les Pitchouns were far from best in the 1-0 defeat at the hands of Lorient on Sunday, and the result is a fair one in many aspects
Toulouse couldn’t get better of Le FCL at the weekend at Stade http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Moustoir and the coach, Alain Casanova has no excuses regarding his side’s failure.
Talking to reporters at a press conference, the 51-year-old stated that it was a below par performance from his side and Lorient deserved to win on Sunday. Toulouse failed to take control of the game and they created very little chances on the pitch.
"Lorient deserved their win, there's nothing more to say."
Criticising his defence, the boss said that Les Pitchouns’ defence was really poor, especially in the first half, for which they were punished by the home side. Playing away from home is never an easy task but the coach feels that his side made it more difficult
by playing extra defensively.
Casanova added that Toulouse were too weak and they lost the possession rather cheaply out there. Lorient deserved all the credit but the coach feels that TFC could have done better on the pitch and it was not their best performance by any means.
“Our first half was just too poor defensively. We were too weak, and second best, when it came to winning the ball back, showing commitment, and going into challenges.”
The Frenchman added that Toulouse didn’t cause Les Merlus enough problems and the hosts took full advantage of that.
“We gave too many balls away and didn't do enough to cause them problems.”
Casanova feels that his side was lucky to concede only a single goal and their first half performance was really poor. However, Les Pitchouns did comparably well in the second half but it was too little too late.
“It would have been a minor miracle had we gone in at 0-0 at half time. We were better in the second half but it still wasn't enough.”
The coach is far from pleased with the result and has urged the players to bring considerable improvement if they want to get back to winning ways.
