The 51-year-old is disappointed with Les Pitchouns’ 1-0 defeat at the hands of OGC Nice on Sunday but is satisfied with his players’ performance nonetheless
Le Téfécé coach, Alain Casanova, feels that his side was unlucky to lose against Nice at the weekend and the result was a bit harsh keeping in mind the way Toulouse played at Stade Municipal http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Ray.
It was Toulouse’s fourth defeat of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign, and the result has pushed them down to 9th place in the league with 19 points on the table.
While talking to reporters, Alain Casanova stated that Les Pitchouns deserved something out of Sunday’s game and it’s disappointing to end up on the losing side after playing so well. The visitors gave everything on the pitch and the coach feels that his
side at least deserved a point from the match.
Talking about Nice’s goal, Casanova said that it was a soft goal to concede from a set piece and Toulouse should have done better there. Les Pitchouns hit the post twice and the coach feels that had it been any other day, the outcome of the game would have
been different.
"There's plenty to be frustrated about tonight. We conceded from a set piece, we hit the posts twice and [David] Ospina pulled off a couple of important saves.”
The 51-year-old said that regardless of the outcome, it was an interesting match and his side played with great attitude. However, the coach knows that TFC need to get back to winning ways as early as possible in order to achieve their objectives this season.
“We’re leaving here empty-handed after playing a very good side. It was an entertaining match, and I liked my side's intentions, but we need to rediscover our rigour and discipline.”
“It would have been better to defend more effectively and conceded fewer foul, because it was the fouls that gave them the chance to play to their strength.”
Alain Casanova said that few key players were missing on Sunday because of injuries and suspensions, and is pleased with the way his side played against Les Aiglons.
“Tonight my side showed a lot of quality, despite some key absences.”
