Alain Gallopin still not sure about his future after the Leopard Trek-RadioShack join hands
Team RadioShack’s directeur sportif Alain Gallopin is still not sure about his future after the merger of his team with Leopard Trek. His support with the team has really been impressive as RadioShack’s performance in the past year clearly reflects the hard
work put in by Alain. RadioShack has secured 9 stage wins during the Tour of Utah, USA Pro Cycling Challenge, Amgen Tour of California, USA Pro Road Championships, Vuelta Pais Vasco and Tour de Suisse in the last year.
The experience of working with different teams makes him such an important man to keep in the team as he has worked with Team Coast, Jeux, Mercury, CSC, Astana and RadioShack. The Frenchman has worked with Fabian Cancellara and the Schleck brothers before
and believes that he is the best man suited for the job as he said, “Of course, for me, if I am part of the new team it is perfect for me because I know the Schleck family and Cancellara very well. I worked with them for four years with CSC and these riders.
But, it is not official yet and I don’t know.”
The 54-year-old mentioned that he has had a wonderful time with the team and has enjoyed the successes that RadioShack has seen during his tenure as he briefed that he has enjoyed the time spent with the team. Alain mentioned that at times the team had been
unlucky but the overall performance of the team justifies their hard work as he stated, “We were not lucky at the Tour de France but we won nine stage races. I’m very happy with the job that I did in the US, I was at all these events for the wins and it was
a nice experience for me. ”
Team will be known as RadioShack-Nissan-Trek and the full team roaster has not been decided yet but Frank Schleck, Andy Schleck and time trial World Champion Fabian Cancellara will be leading the new team in 2012 and 2013. Cyclists who have already secured
their positions on the team include Andreas Kloden, Haimer Zubeldia, Chris Horner, Jani Brajkovic, Jesse Sergent, Nelson Oliveira, Matthew Busche, Ben King, Jakob Fuglsang and Daniele Bennati.
Alain Gallopin no doubt will be the best option for the team Leopard-Trek RadioShack as team is set to make his debut in the coming season and it will be interesting to see if team’s management considers Gallopin for the position.
