I am looking to find out from experienced 'curisers' which cruise line they prefer, what time of year is the best to go to really enjoy the curise and off shore excurtions. Also, I don't want a "retirement" type cruise or a "disney" type cruise. Thanks

  2. Well, if you like it when there are fewer smaller kids around May. For 50% off sales at stores in ports then Sept. May & early June best for seeing whales from ship. Norweigan best for all around cruise. Not as strict for dress code. Norweigan & Princess offer best rates. Shore excurtions wait till you get there to book as most depend on weather. Also depends on what you like. If you go whale watching take one that gurantees money back. There will be people of all ages as it is avery popular place. Enjoy.

  3. I worked in tourism for six year in Anchorage and dealt with cruise people every summer.  I heard rave reveiws of Princess Cruises.  I've never heard such happy people.  Their only complaint (from the Texans) was that they didn't serve Dr. Pepper on the cruise.  :)

  4. I have a group booked on the Celebrity Summit Vancouver to Seward for 7 days leaving June 22nd.  This is the Inside Passage, which is the preferred route for scenery and wildlife.  Celebrity is the upscale version of Royal Carribbean - bit nicer ships, service, food, but still a good value.  If you're interested and would like to discuss further, please call me at 866-485-8175.

  5. I've been to Alaska on a cruise before and this is just what I know.  The best time to go is in late May or early June.  The prices aren't as high, the weather is good, and you don't have those infamous Alaskan mosquitoes.  The cruise line I prefer is NCL because of Freestlye Cruising (which basically means you can do what you want, when you want.  Other cruise lines have you on a schedule.)  They also have nice ships and the Freestyle Cruising makes it more fun to go on shore excursions, because you don't have to be back at a specific time to eat.  That way, you don't cut your vacation short.  Shore excursions I like were the helecopter ride to Mendenhall Glacier and the train ride in Skagway.  NCL is also one of those cruise lines that could be for anyone.  They have things for retirees and kids, but also for the people in between those ages.
