Alamsyah Yunus finds an easy start in Indonesia International Challenge 2013 – Badminton News
Indonesia’s experienced badminton player, Alamsyah Yunus, found an easy start in Men’s Singles main round when he tamed Malaysian Wong Kin Yik at the Prim-A Indonesia International Challenge in Surabaya, on Wednesday, July 3.
The World Number 27, Yunus, who is the top seed in Men’s Singles main draw in Indonesia International, played with smashing speed and consumed just 36 minutes to secure his place in the second round.
The Indonesian shuttler had a huge support of the home crowd and he did not let them down at any stage of the contest. He stayed in full command and easily showed exit to the lower ranked Wong Kin with a superb 21-11 and 21-15
total on the board.
On the contrary, the un-seeded Wong Kin could not cope up with the elite skills of his local opponent. He failed to get advantage of his attacking skills as his challenger was quick in returning the shots. He crashed out in the
opening round without creating any sort of an impact.
In the absence of the top players, many people think that Yunus has got a wonderful chance to win this championship and his aggressive start has made his intentions quite clear to all shuttlers as well.
In the opening set, Yunus stayed comfortable but quick in creating gaps and he easily dominated the pace all the way in first half. Until the break, he was far ahead from his challenger on the score board.
After the interval, the in-form Indonesian shuttler continued cheering his fans by playing controlled badminton. He did not let his opponent to get close and wrapped up the set with a one-sided score of 21-11.
In the second game, Wong Kim showed his aggression but he soon realised that he could not push his rival on his back foot by executing just smashes. He tried to play with variations but failed again to shake the impressive flow
of his opponent.
On the other hand, Yunus remained composed in his temperament and he took a reasonable lead until the end of opening half.
After the break, Indonesian man paced up rallies and started to stretch the different on the score board. He was on a different level in the ending points and secured the set with a comfortable margin of 21-15.
