Alamsyah Yunus move into round of eight of Indonesia International Challenge – Badminton news
Men’s Singles campaigner Alamsyah Yunus became the quarter-finalist of Prim-A Indonesia International Challenge after beating Tam Chun Hei in third round on Thursday, July 4, 2013.
This pre quarter-final tussle was staged at the local badminton arena of Surabaya and it kept both contenders busy on court for 45 minutes. Though, Alamsyah wrapped this showdown in just two games but he had to sweat hard to read a favourable result of 21-12
and 21-10.
The Indonesian shuttler, who holds the top spot in this tournament ranking, raised his chances of success with a staggering knock in the opening game and then served the notice of his supremacy by showing commendable badminton skills in the second set.
In opening game of match, Alamsyah played cautiously in the beginning and tried to figure out his rival’s strategy. He did not take much time in reading his opponent’s game and established a decent lead by claiming few consecutive points.
Alamsyah unleashed a flurry of productive strokes and doubled his lead way before the one-minute interval. At the half-time, he was in commanding position with scoreboard flashing a significant margin of 11 in his favour.
Latter part of the game was also dominated by the higher ranked Indonesian player as he did not lose focus at any stage of the game. Though, Tam Chun made every effort to come out of his rival’s influence but Alamsyah’s magic prevailed all the way to game
point situation.
He registered a winning margin of 21-12 and marched into second set of match with an upper hand.
The following game remained interesting till the half time as it was a dead contest after the one-minute interval. Initially, Tam Chun showed some spark and it was felt that he will challenge his competitor in this survival of the fittest war.
Both contenders stood toe-to-toe in first half of the set but story was entirely different in latter part of the game. The Men’s Singles expert Alamsyah struck hard and tipped the scale in his favour with an overwhelming figure of 21-10.
Now he will resume his campaign in quarter-final round of Indonesia International Challenge.
