Alamsyah Yunus surges into Men’s Singles semi-final of the Indonesia Open GP Gold – Badminton news
Indonesia’s Alamsyah Yunus continued his winning streak as he surged into Men’s Singles semi-final of the 2011 Indonesia Open GP Gold, which is in progress at East Kalimantan, Indonesia. In the quarter-final of the event, the Indonesian tamed Misbun Ramdan
Mohmed Misbun of Malaysia, on Friday, September 30.
World Number 31 ranked shuttler, Alamsyah delivered a convincing performance and ended the event for the spirited Misbun Ramdan, who had been playing striking badminton in previous rounds. However, the Malaysian failed to continue his remarkable run against
the higher ranked Alamsyah and lost to him in straight games of 30 minutes.
Misbun Ramdan opened the match in his usual aggressive style as he employed powerful jumping smashes which helped him to remain close to his local rival, who was playing with precision.
Both shuttlers moved each other to all corners of the court and missed no chance to win points in the first-half of the game. It was the Indonesian who managed an 11-9 lead in the opening half.
After the break, the Malaysian became a little slow while Alamsyah kept the pace high and dominated the rallies. He played safe and positive badminton in the second-half and won it in just 16 minutes by the score of 21-16.
In the following game, Misbun Ramdan paced up his strokes but made many unforced errors by targeting the wrong areas. His poor shot selection and negative play helped his experienced challenger to take a comfortable lead of 11-7 until the break.
After the one-minute break, Alamsyah continued his power-play by hitting the bird hard coupled with the net killings. The Malaysian failed to utilise his defensive skills as the smashes of Alamsyah were landing accurately in the gaps.
The Indonesian finished the job in the second game by the difference of 21-14 in just 14 minutes. This straight-set quarter-final contest went in the favour of Alamsyah by a 21-16 and 21-14 score on the board.
In the semi-final, Alamsyah will face the winner of the encounter between Japan’s Takuma Ueda and Indonesia’s Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka.
