Alan Belcher: I want tough competition in the form of ace middleweight brawlers – UFC news
Alan Belcher, the American mixed martial art brawler, has decided to make an impact in the middleweight division and recently, in an interview, remarked that he wants to take on the elite brawlers of the division in order to become the number one contender
for the middleweight title and wants tough genuine competition.
Belcher is scheduled to take on Rousimar Palhares, one of the most feared submission specialists, in UFC on Fox 3 pay-per-view. The two men will fought in the middleweight division in the octagon which will be stretched at IZOD Center situated in East Rutherford,
New Jersey.
The special edition will be on aired on May 5, 2012. Alan, 27, for the past few years had been busy nailing men in the middleweight division but unfortunately did not receive due recognition. He had been dormant due to many personal and medical factors.
Alan last appeared in the octagon against Jason MacDonald and collected an impressive submission win via punches.
Widely known as ‘The Talent’, Alan has been in a total 23 brawls and came out victorious in 17. He has collected eight of his wins by knockout, seven by submission, and two by decision. The American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt holder became a part of
UFC in 2006 and since then has collected four losses out of a total 12 bouts.
The young surging brawler is recuperating from an eye surgery that took place in 2010 since his right eye was losing vision. At the moment Alan has decided to ignore his eye problem and concentrate on his brawling career. Alan said that he wants a challenging
competitor now adding that he respects all but by ‘challenging’, he means someone from the top ranks.
Alan commented, “I need a challenge at this point. I can’t really say that the other guys don’t have the big name or they’re not good fighters. Everybody is amazing, but really, I need the top guys to really challenge me right now.”
Belcher, while sharing his views about Palhares said that he is denoted in the whole UFC as the most lethal submission tactician adding that a bout with such a brawler, who is avoided by almost everyone, is what he needs at the moment.
“They offered me someone else that I didn’t think was, the right fight for me. Joe was kind of like, ‘Well, there’s nobody else unless you want to fight Palhares, and nobody wants to fight him.’ To me, that made perfect sense. I know it’s a dangerous fight,
but I knew it would put me where I wanted to be. I really want a challenge.”
Both men will fight a non-title bout and Alan will strive hard to nail the deadliest fighter in UFC as it will certainly help him in attracting the attention of top-notch middleweight belligerent’s.
