http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045’s hospitable gift of wickets to Bangladesh – Cricket News Update
Alan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 by losing their four top wickets on Day 3 of the one-off Test match, that is being played at Harare Sports Club. He believes
that the home team has mitigated its chances of victory by the poor show in the second innings.
Having taken a marvellous start with the opening partnership, scoring 69, the Zimbabweans collapsed suddenly towards the end of third day's play and lost four key wickets for just 92 runs. This gave the Bengali Tigers a great edge over the hosts.
In the Test, which started on August 4, Zimbabwe batted very well and posted a competitive total of 370 runs in their first innings. In reply, Bangladesh could only score 287 in their first.
Zimbabwe started their second innings yesterday with the openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sibanda-c2740, scoring 35 and 38 respectively.
The Bangladeshi bowlers unleashed fireworks in the evening and wrapped up the day with four wickets to their credit. However, the Zimbabweans still lead the match by 175 runs.
Butcher is not happy with this situation. Talking to the media, he said, “The position we're in has changed in the last half-hour and I think it's been a theme of the game so far that our top-order batsmen have got themselves out rather than the Bangladesh
bowlers getting them out.”
He further told, “Had that not been the case I think we would have ben far, far ahead by now, but Zimbabweans pride themselves on being a hospitable nation and we keep throwing our opponents a lifeline. It's something we need to address because Bangladesh
should really have been out of the game by now.”
As a whole, the coach has expressed his satisfaction on the performances by his players, who have returned to Test cricket after a long interval of six years. He hopes that the hosts can still win the game, provided the remaining six batsmen score consistently
and confidently.
