Alan Hansen believes Arsenal have a small chance of winning the Premier League: EPL News
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 defender, Alan Hansen, believes Arsenal still have a slim chance of winning the 2010-11 Premier League title despite trailing the league leaders, Manchester United by six points.
The Gunners once again threw away a winning advantage and conceded a late equaliser to Liverpool on Sunday, 17 April.
Hansen added that Arsenal should forget about Sunday’s result and just hope that Newcastle United pull up a surprise against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men, when the two sides meet on Tuesday, 19 April.
The 55-year-old added that Arsenal should feel sorry for themselves as they will never get a better chance of winning the league, as both United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 were not up to their best in the current campaign.
Talking to the reporters Alan Hansen said, “Arsenal will be crushed psychologically after throwing away a priceless victory against Liverpool, but the harsh reality is that the result was typical of their season”
He also added, “But crazy as it seems, they still have a chance of winning the title. They are now in the Last Chance Saloon, however, and it will be all over for Arsène Wenger and his team if Manchester United win at Newcastle on Tuesday and Arsenal fail to win at Tottenham on Wednesday."
The former defender believes that Arsene Wenger’s team has missed a leader on the field for a long time now and nobody has stepped up to take the responsibility.
The Red Devils were knocked out of the semi-final of FA Cup on Saturday, 16 April. Hansen added that responding to these big blows is essential for winning trophies and believes that Manchester United have the capability to recover from their loss but Arsenal lack this attitude.
The Scot added that the race for Premier League will be more intensifying in 2011-12 season as a lot of teams will enter the fray. He added that Liverpool and Manchester City have spent a lot of money in the recent past and will have powerful squads, which can challenge for the silverware.
