Alan Isaac, the 60-year-old former New Zealand Cricket Chairman, has assumed the top office as the new International Cricket Council (ICC) President for a two-year term, replacing outgoing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Born in 1952 in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Cricket Board, where he was further appointed chairman in 2008. Apart from that,
he also had a 35-year association with KPMG as the head of the organization.
The New Zealander has become ICC’s eighth president but he’s no stranger to the governing body, as he had been its vice-president for the last two years. Isaac became the vice-president in August 2010 amid controversy, when former Australian Prime Minister,
John Howard’s nomination was blocked by the Asian and African bloc during the cricketing council’s board meeting, the same year.
"I recognise that there is, of course, much hard work and much progress needed if we are to maintain the game's current healthy state," Isaac said. "I believe that the challenges ahead are no less daunting than those we have faced in the last two years if
we are to maintain the vibrancy and viability of the three formats of the sport."
In another expected development, it has been confirmed that David Richardson will be the new Chief Executive Officer of the ICC. The former South African wicketkeeper will become the fourth CEO of the governing body and will be succeeding his countryman,
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haroon-Lorgat-c61719 who assumed office in April 2008.
Richard played 42 Tests and 122 One Day Internationals (ODI) for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 from 1992 until 1998 and was the first wicketkeeper of the post-Apartheid Proteas team. The 52-year-old was appointed as the first General Manager of ICC in January 2002 and retained
his position up till now.
"It is a real honour to be confirmed as the ICC Chief Executive and I want to pay tribute to Haroon Lorgat," he said. "I have learnt much in the last four years and I inherit a game in great health with much to be optimistic about. I look forward to building
on that and tackling the challenges ahead."
