Alan Kennedy not to perform today at Ascot – Horse Racing news
Alan Kennedy, a leading jockey is not going to be appearing in Ascot this afternoon. The reason that Kennedy will not be running any of his four scheduled meets because the jockey has been found to take a banned substance.
This discovery was made known yesterday, as the stewards of Racing and Wagering banned Kennedy from being a part of the race event in Ascot. This measure was taken based on the evidence that the stewards found after results from a sample taken on April 17,
2011 came positive. The test was done on a urine sample that was provided for testing by the jockey himself. This took place at Pinjarra.
Upon the day at which Kennedy’s sample was taken, the jockey did not ride out as planned. The reason for his absence from the race event was given to be his poor health. The horse that the jockey was scheduled to ride out on was named Henry De Horse, which
was ridden by Kyra Yuill consequently. The race event was won by the horse trained by Derek Jones, an accomplishment that could have been Kennedy’s but fell to the credit of Yuill, a gun apprentice.
It was a fateful day for Kennedy to fall sick upon, as the horse he was supposed to ride won the $ 80,000 Pinjarra Classic and on the same day the jockey’s urine sample was taken that has now incriminated him.
The relatively recent victory that Kennedy is famous for is the one he was able to achieve in the year 2010 in the Perth Cup. The horse that the jockey rode out to victory was called Lord’s Ransom.
Kennedy is not the only one that has undergone the scrutiny of the stewards. Clint Harvey, another well known jockey has been held responsible for conducting fraud.
“It stunned me a little to get the letter,” Harvey said. “It was hand delivered late on Thursday afternoon and I ran out of time to reply. Obviously this weekend is too late but I will be seeking a legal challenge to be back riding next Saturday.”
