Alan King – A hard working trainer’s success story
Alan King has been serving horseracing for over a decade now and he has become a force to reckon with in the sport. He has been growing stronger with the passage of time and has enjoyed a very good time during the 2012 season. His fans will be hoping that
he continues with the same level of energy in the years to come.
The veteran trainer has been working hard for a long period of time and has managed to produce some champion stallions over the years. He has won multiple Grade 1 events and will look to shine at the highest level with consistency.
David Nicholson was the one who hired King as an assistant trainer and both worked with a lot of energy for quite some time before the former trainer retired from the sport after a successful tenure.
This did not stop King from working hard and he earned a trainer’s licence for himself in order to make a name in the sport. He initially trained horses at Jackdaw's Castle stables and then shifted to Barbury Castle in 2000. Since that time, he has not moved
anywhere else and has been committed to horseracing.
King’s first major success came in the Cantor Fitzgerald Long Walk Hurdle Class A Grade 1 with Anzum, who was a successful gelding of his time. He won numerous events before taking retirement in 2001.
The veteran trainer would definitely remember his first ever important victory. However, he did not stop there and continued to impress with different stallions, winning a lot of other Grade 1 competitions.
Years 2007 and 2008 proved to be the best for the British trainer, as he managed to win 10 major titles during this time period. This was certainly the golden period of his career and he would like to repeat that once more in the near future.
In 2010, he was unable to win any Grade 1 race, which was a touch disappointing, but he made a strong comeback afterwards and has been on top of the table over the past couple of seasons.
This year, he succeeded in the Matalan Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle and John Smith's Sefton Novices' Hurdle. Both were important victories for him and he will look to continue shining at the highest level in the future.
