Alan King pleased with Fire Fighter’s victory
Fire Fighter won the Whitson Bloodstock Juvenile Maiden Hurdle race in emphatic style, much to the delight of trainer Alan King. The race was held at Warwick race track on January 26.
The novice, but brilliant horse exhibited immense effort and outstanding fighting spirit to notch up first position in the event. Over at the 2 mile long track with 8 hurdles, the victor ran against 11 opponents including Black Pond, Edgware Road,
Shalloon, Ishikawa, Marie Des Anges, Ugo, Miss Brownes Fancy, Tadabeer, Nova Sam, Goldmadchen and Lady Morganna.
Starting at 1:25, the race was completed in 3 minutes and 59.50 seconds.  It was an interesting and entertaining event for both the spectators and the bookies, who were present at the venue.
Fire Fighter was the 8 to 11 favourite for the race. Ridden by Wayne Hutchinson, the dashing horse displayed outstanding performance throughout the track. However, after crossing the final hurdle, he stumbled once, and lost a bit of pace, but the jockey
stimulated him to stay intact. Thus, he finished first with a margin of 3 ¾ lengths.
Commenting on his trainee’s magnificent triumph, King said, “We thought he'd progress from Sandown and he looks a horse that will get better the more he runs. He's got a lot of scope and might be a Fred Winter horse. It depends what he does next time."
This was Fire Fighter’s fifth victory of the career which began September 24, 2010. So far, the horse has run 13 races, winning 5, standing second in 3, and getting third position in one event. His total earnings are £15,196.
Bred by Airlie Stud and Sir Thomas Pilkington, the talented gelding was foaled in March, 2008. He is owned by Masterson Holdings Limited.
The fresh victory is prelude of the juvenile racer’s successful year. Alan King also hopes that his trainee will carry forward this winning momentum, and bring him further titles in the upcoming events of the calendar year.
Among other runners of the Whitson Bloodstock Juvenile Maiden Hurdle race, Black Pond finished second while Edgware Road ended with third spot.  Lady Morganna was the tail ender with a difference of 11 lengths. Easydoesit was the only horse who did
not run.
