Alan McManus hails Ding Junhui for his good form: 2012 Australian Goldfields Open
Scotland’s Alan McManus was unable to play up to his mark in the first round encounter of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament and tumbled down to crash out of the event.
The Scottish potter was up against the winner of the 2012 Welsh Open snooker tournament and the 2011-12 Championship League Snooker, China’s Ding Junhui. He did not give him any chance to win even a single frame victory in their first round match and defeated
McManus by a whitewash score line of 5-0. Junhui dominated McManus as he put on a brilliant snooker display.
Junhui spoke to World Snooker after his victory and said, “I practised hard and I'm feeling good. When I played in the Wuxi Classic I didn't feel good. I like it here, the weather's very dry which is good for snooker and the cloth is very fast.”
McManus had high hopes before he entered the arena to play against Junhui. He started off brilliantly in the first frame of the match as he fired a tremendous break of 62 to prove his talent. But before he could do more damage, Junhui swept the table in
no time and claimed a 1-0 lead. Junhui did not allow McManus to get into his natural game.
After that, the Chinese star did not let him come at the table and create trouble for him as he cruised into four consecutive frame wins and claimed his first victory of the event. McManus really appreciated the way Junhui outclassed him in the match.
McManus said to World Snooker, “It's a long way to come for one match, but Ding took advantage of the chances he had and he played very well so he fully deserved to win.”
Junhui has surged into the second round of the tournament where he will meet the former World Snooker Championship and the 2012 China Open snooker event winner from England, Peter Ebdon. The clash will be worth watching because both potters are on the peak
of their performance. The fans will be looking forward to this exciting battle as both players are in good form and eager to win.
