Newcastle United manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew has cancelled all Christmas celebrations and has confirmed that the club will not be hosting its Christmas party out of respect for the fans.
The Magpies have had a dismal season so far in the Premier League, having dropped down to 15th spot with only 2 points keeping them adrift of the relegation zone. The defeat against Manchester City was their second successive loss, and puts a
lot of pressure on the manager and the players this month in the face of a congested and busy fixture list.
Pardew is quite concerned with his team’s form, especially after watching the same players finish 5th in the Premier League last season. The Magpies had a lot of expectations place on them following last season’s exploits, and were favourites
for a top 4 finish this time around.
However, they faced a number of injuries and suspensions to key players in the opening months of the campaign, and struggled to get results. A series of draws saw them hang on up until successive defeats pushed them down the league table.
From top 4 contenders, Newcastle have gone down to potential relegation battlers, and this worries Pardew, especially now that he has most of his previously injured players back. Still, Newcastle struggle.
However, Newcastle once again lost two key players to injury. The latest players to be sidelined were http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hatem-Ben-Arfa-c15884, with Cabaye expected not to return until February. This deals another major blow to the team’s aspirations, and Pardew
has therefore put all Christmas celebrations and festivities on hold in order to get his squad to focus on the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at hand.
Speaking to local press and media, he said:
“It’s out of respect to our fans, and what we’ve served them this year. There’s no party for us, and the same for the staff. That’s how it should be.”
“Trust me, there have been horrible things said about our group and our staff, but we’re together. And we’re fighting and trying to put it right. The fans have to realise this isn’t just a game to us, it’s our livelihoods and our profession. It pays our
bills.”
