Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has laughed off rumours that link his star player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yohan-Cabaye-c37423 with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.
Cabaye, the 26-year old French midfielder was the subject of various transfer reports that linked him with an £8 million move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
The midfielder proved to be one of the best buys of last season after completing a £4.8 million move from former French champions Lille to the Sports Direct Arena.
The midfielder featured regularly for Newcastle and had a very impressive season in the English top flight. He further enhanced his reputation as he played for the French national team in last month’s Euro 2012 Championship. The midfielder has truly risen
since he made the move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and has made quite a name for himself.
The French international has proven to be instrumental in Newcastle’s exploits last season and it would be a surprise if Alan Pardew lets go of him this summer.
Yesterday, numerous reports were doing the rounds that linked the player to Barcelona, with many claiming that the Magpies will be willing to sell him only if a ‘ridiculous’ offer is made.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew has however laughed off all rumours and reports regarding Cabaye.
He said: "The interest is purely speculative. We have had no contact and certainly no offer, and obviously we wouldn't even consider an offer anywhere near that region."
"If they come and they want to pay - and it's going to be very, very expensive for someone like him [Cabaye]. Trust me, he will be inflated - then we have to then go to Plan B, which is to get a replacement.”
"It's flattering to us and to Cabaye to be linked with Barcelona."
There are also other Newcastle players that have been linked with exits from the Sports Direct Arena. Cheick Tiote, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Davide-Santon-c10658 have all been recently linked with moves to various clubs.
Pardew said that he will only consider offers that are seriously attractive, as was the case in the sale of former striker Andy Carroll’s £35 million sale to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in the 2010/2011 January transfer window.
As of now, Newcastle look determined in holding on to all their star players, but with 6-7 weeks left till the transfer window closes, a lot could still happen.
