Alan Pardew looking to add new players
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is aiming to sign in new players to increase the quality of his side, come the January transfer window.
Pardew joined Newcastle few weeks ago, following the shock sacking of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in his first game in charge. However, Newcastle has since lost two back-to-back fixtures against Man City and Tottenham Hotspur.
The manager has now called on the owner to open his cheque book in the January transfer window in order to bring him some new assets to the club.
"We lacked a little bit of quality in the final third against Tottenham. We have a team on its day that can compete with the top teams, but we need that quality and competitiveness,” stated the Newcastle boss.
Despite looking for new faces, Pardew is determined to retain the current top players of the club. This led to Pardew yet again playing rumours linking Andy Carroll away from the club. The striker has managed to score 11 goals this season and has been inspirational
this season.
"We are looking at the market and hopefully can bring something in. You want a bit of quality, pace and directness and that is something we would like to add at some stage,” stated Pardew.
The manager added that he had a word with the owner to retain Andy at all costs and the owner has labelled the player as being not for sale. The manager claimed that for the newly promoted side to climb up the rankings, they would need to win more fixtures.
Pardew therefore insisted his side to pick up their performances to get to the mid of the table.
"When you win, you start to think, as players and staff, 'Oh Christ, we can win again'. But when you lose you look backwards," stated the former Southhampton boss.
