Alan Pardew reveals Newcastle United will sign one more ‘big player’ this summer – EPL News
Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew, has revealed that the Magpies are aiming to bring one more ‘big player’ to St. James Park in the current summer transfer window.
The Toon have already signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yohan-Cabaye-c37423 from Lille and Mehdi Abeid in the summer.
Despite having already signing four players, Pardew wants to bring one more player to St. James Park. The Magpies are reportedly looking to buy a high profile and free-scoring striker in this summer.
Pardew told the reporters, “I am confident we’ll get at least one, and maybe two, big players in here.”
Moreover, Jose Enrique has been heavily linked with Arsenal since the start of the summer transfer window. Wenger sees the Spanish defender as a perfect replacement of their outgoing defender Gael Clichy, who joined Manchester City a few weeks ago.
However, Pardew has publically revealed that he wants the left back to stay at Tyneside club. The tactician believes that Enrique should sort out his future at the earliest as it will be difficult for Newcastle United to find a replacement in the dying stages
of the current transfer window.
Pardew told the reporters, “As a manager, of course I want him to stay. The worst thing for us would be if he went late, that's the problem.”
The Newcastle manager has revealed that the Magpies are working hard in the transfer market to bring in a perfect replacement for Enrique. The Toon are linked with Manchester City’s out of favour defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Bridge-c36733. They have already failed to lure Neil
Taylor from Swansea.
“We are trying to do some business because we need to cover ourselves in that area between now and the end of the window regardless of Enrique.”
Enrique has rejected to sign a new contract with Newcastle United and has only a year left on his current contract with the Tyneside club. The former Villarreal defender, who played 36 Premier League matches last season, is likely to leave St. James Park
in the current transfer window.
