Alan Pardew urges Newcastle United to remain level-headed – EPL News
Newcastle United manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew, has urged the Magpies not to get carried away with their impressive recent form and wants his players to give their best in the upcoming Premier League match against league leaders, Manchester
City.
Pardew also played down Newcastle’s chances of challenging for the Premier League title or even for a place in the UEFA Champions League.
The Tyneside club had an outstanding start to the ongoing 2011/12 Barclays Premier League campaign. Newcastle United and Manchester City are the only sides to have stayed unbeaten in the league thus far.
Pardew’s men are currently placed third in the league standings ahead of big guns such as Chelsea Tottenham Hotspur, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
However, the Magpies’ impressive progress in the season now faces a tough time as they will play their next three matches against Manchester City, Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
Pardew has hailed Newcastle United’s outstanding progress in the first three months of the current season, however, the Welsh boss was quick to play down expectations of a title fight.
The Magpies boss believes that Newcastle need to get some points in the upcoming three fixtures in order to maintain their impressive progress of the season.
The former West Ham United manager told the reporters:
“Fans are realistic enough to know that if we can get something like two or three points from these three games, or even excel and get six points, seven points, we are going to find ourselves in a really strong position. But talk of the Champions League and
competing for the title are ridiculous for us at the moment.”
Pardew hailed the quality and depth of the Blues squad and believes that the Magpies will have to work their socks off in order to earn a positive result at the Etihad Stadium.
"That's what a great team can do, they can deal with any scenario that we throw at them. Having said that, we are unbeaten and we go there full of confidence and whatever game-plan we have, the players have good faith in it and will do their best to see
it through,” Alan Pardew concluded
Newcastle United have recorded 25 points from 11 games and have won five of their last six matches.
