Alan Permane says they will be much stronger in the second half of the season – Formula 1 news
Alan Permane, trackside operations director of team Lotus believes that they will perform exceptionally well in the second half of the current season.
Talking about the performance of his team in the second half the operations director said that E20 is great and if the car did not prove to be better than others, it can also be developed.
“We will be much stronger in the second half. The car is great, we have started with that, and we have shown we can develop as well if not better than others,” Permane said.
Furthermore, he said that they have also developed better understanding with their driver and there seems to be no reason that the following half will not be good for the team.
“We have spent time getting to know our drivers, and Romain has [had some] crashes on the first lap. Without that things would be very different. There's no reason why we can't have a good second half,” he said.
He added that the car is doing well in all the conditions. Moreover, he said that there is no particular circuit where the car performs exceptionally, it has shown consistent pace at two different circuits Silverstone and Hungary.
Talking about the areas where E20 needs improvements, Permane said that there is not much to improve however, team Lotus driver, Kimi Raikkonen wants some more grip in the front and rear tyres of his car so that he may go faster.
Furthermore, he said that it would be a pleasure if team Lotus wins the drivers’ and constructors’ championships. He added that they wanted to win a race as soon as possible.
He added that the upcoming races at Spa and Monza are very different tracks.
Team Lotus has been working very hard in introducing developments to its cars. It has also prepared its own expensive double DRS system. It is expected that it will be introducing the system in the latter half of the current season because in season 2013
it has been mutually decided by teams that DRS system will not be used, therefore if they do not introduce the system now they will only be able to introduce it after 2013.
