Alan Plavin advances into Men’s Singles main round at Victor Slovak Open 2012 – Badminton news
Alan Plavin, an emerging player from Lithuania, played to his maximum potential and secured his berth in Men’s Singles main round after beating his higher ranked challenger Kek Jamnik of Slovenia at the Victor Slovak Open 2012 on Thursday, September 6, in
Slovakia.
The un-seeded Alan showed a great performance on court as he employed all of his skills and remained successful in beating his higher raked Slovenian rival in a hard-fought match that lasted 50 minutes long.
The lower ranked Alan, who proved his worth in all matches in the qualifying round, remained consistent on court and he created an upset by beating his third seeded opponent Kek in an epic battle that took three games of top class badminton.
The higher ranked Kek, in the meanwhile, was shocked with the impressive performance of his un-seeded rival. He played at his best speed but failed to create pressure on his opponent and eventually lost the battle with a respectable margin.
In the first game of this Men’s Singles encounter, both men showed their tremendous craft as they played to their maximum potential and remained quite close in the opening half.
After the mid-game interval, they continued showing their remarkable skills on court and remained close until the ending points when Alan played fabulous shots and took the game with a dramatic score of 22-20.
The following set was completely different when Kek showed his brilliance by working to his maximum speed. He played dominating badminton this time and took an impressive lead until the break.
After the mid-game interval, Alan tried to narrow the gap but failed remain positive and eventually lost the set with a one-sided score of 13-21.
The deciding game was absolutely sensational when both contestants put up staggering show of top class badminton and remained neck-to-neck in opening half.
After the mid-game interval, the game progressed in the similar fashion and the score reached at 20-20 when Alan managed two straight points and took the set with a 22-20 score on the board.
The impressive Alan won this tremendous battle in three games with a nail-biting score of 22-20, 13-21 and 22-20.
