Alan Shearer and Ian Holloway Not Interested In Blackburn
The legendary English striker, Alan Shearer, has made it clear that he will not take the hot seat at Blackburn Rovers following speculation he would return to his former club. Despite the decent start of the season, the new owners of Blackburn Rover sacked
Sam Allardyce. Since then, there has been much speculation as to who would take the hot seat at Ewood Park. Many names have been thrown around in relation to the job, including the likes of former Ajax manager Martin Jol, former Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill
and even the legendary Maradona. Moreover, the former Newcastle United striker Alan was also mentioned to take charge of the Rovers.
However, Alan Shearer has ruled himself out of contention. When asked about his chances of becoming the new Rovers manager, Alan Shearer said: ‘Save your money.’ The former English attacker was then asked if he was ruling himself out of contention. He replied:
‘I am.’
Alan Shearer is a popular figure at Blackburn, having played for them from 1992 to 1996. During his time at the Ewood Park, the legendary English striker scored 131 goals in 171 appearances and also helped Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 to win the Barclays Premier League
in 1994.
Shearer was one of the favourites to take the reins at Ewood Park after Sam’s s departure, but with his recent comments, he has ruled out a return to his old club.
Moreover, the most successful manager of Blackpool, Ian Holloway, has rubbished speculation that he is a possible contender for the job at Ewood Park.
Holloway said: "It is ridiculous to link me with that. It is absolute rubbish. I signed a contract at Blackpool in the summer, which lasts this season and next season, and I am more than happy. I don't need to talk to anybody. I haven't got an agent
and I don't really want one any more. I am just happy talking to my chairman about the job I'm doing here. I am privileged to have this job and I am trying to do the best I can."
Rovers’ new Indian owners, Venky’s, have stated that they want more attractive football from the team and that they are aiming for a finish in the top half of the table in coming seasons. Sam Allardyce’s deputy Steve Kean is currently the caretaker manager
at Ewood Park. Moreover, Steve Kean has also been given a green signal of being in charge of Blackburn till the end of the season by the new owners.
Blackburn Rovers are currently placed 12th in the table with 22 points to their credit out of 18 league games. Blackburn Rover drew their last match against Avram Grant’s West Ham United at Ewood Park. Blackburn Rovers will play their next match
against Stoke City on Boxing Day at home.
