Former Liverpool striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 with the Australian outfit, Demon
Knights.
The 58-year old made 16 league appearances for the Reds from 1973 to 1977 and netted just a single goal during this period- a winner in a derby match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 at Goodison Park. Despite his repeated failures to get a chance to represent his team on
the field, the Englishman did a lot of travelling with Liverpool during his 4-year stint at the club and was an unused substitute in the 1974 FA Cup and the 1977 European Cup.
Nevertheless, Waddle joined Demon Knights in 2009 as a technical advisor. Keeping in view the impressive job that he did and his past experience with Liverpool, he was handed over the managerial post earlier in the season.
The former striker unravelled that even though his playing career spanned over a period of 16 years, he learnt the most about football during his stay at Anfield.
He told the reporters, “Though I only played four-and-a-half years of my life at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in 16 years, it had the most profound effect on my football career… It was obviously the realisation of a dream to be able to not only play professional football but
also to be at Liverpool.”
Touching the subject of his new assignment with the Australian team, Waddle revealed that instead of adopting a complicated playing style, he was looking forward to introduce the ‘Liverpool way’ and will try to keep things simple.
He added, “I'm not trying to make it complicated for them, simply because I always believed in the Liverpool way, and it is a simple methodology of playing. It's just a matter of trying to correct the thought processes, to play things simpler.”
He went on to say that he will encourage his team to adopt an aggressive approach and take their shots from 25 to 30 yards out, while keeping their emphasis on maintaining a possession retaining philosophy.
