Aland Islands ready to enthral at Doncaster – Novices’ Hurdle Preview
Aland Islands, the Tim Vaughan-trained black gelding, is expected to complete a hat-trick by bagging third straight victory in the third straight race of his career at Doncaster racecourse on Saturday, March 3.
The brilliant novice runner with unbeaten career record is lined-up among the 11 runners who are going to show their guts in Lynn Spowart Birthday Novices’ Hurdle which will begin at 4:00 (GMT).
The entries for the Class 4 event of 2m3f110y distance include Aland Islands, Amron Lad, Civil Unrest, keenes Day, Lowry Maher, Mezzanisi, Pittodrie Star, Purlando, Scourie Bay, The Banana Man and Tarantella Lady.
Since making his debut in April 2011, Aland Islands has run for two times with favourite tags and won. Following his maiden victory with a margin of 5 lengths at Exeter on April 5, the talented runner went on to win convincingly his second and last race
at Hexham on November 4.
By winning one race each of NHF and Hurdle category, the six-year-old gelding has pursed £4,229 so far.
In his maiden outing at Doncaster today, Aland Islands is quite ready to unleash his utmost firepower and register the first hat-trick of his career.
Though he seems to be above all in terms of talent but there are two runners named as Tarantella Lady and Amron Lad who may cause an upset.
Tarantella Lady bagged the first and last success of her career on January 11, 2012 at Doncaster ground. The 16-race black filly is expected to have gained great confidence after this victory. She is now likely to give tough time to Aland Island today.
On the other hand, Amron Lad finished second and third in his last two outings. Since starting his career in April 2011, the trainee of Donald McCain has run for four times to date. He will also run to his best in his maiden race at Doncaster.
