Alanna Bowles wins Girls 200m butterfly gold – State Teams SC Championships
Alanna Bowles of QLD won gold medal of the Girls 200m butterfly in 13-14 years age category on third day of the 2012 State Teams Short Course Championships at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra on Monday, October 8.
The 14-year-old Bowles demonstrated her astonishing effort in the distant butterfly discipline and transpired on the finishing block for gold medal.
With her astonishing pace, Bowles remained in a considerable lead over her opponents and surfaced on the finishing wall for gold medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 14.40 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Darian Murray of WA, who remained almost six seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall as second best finisher by producing a time of 2 minutes and 20.18 seconds.
Murray was chased by Chelsea Gubecka of QLD, who was just 0.31 seconds slower and surfaced on the wall as third best finisher by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 20.49 seconds.
Fourth position of the event was obtained by Emma Gillingham of NSW, who stayed half body length slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 21.06 seconds.
Gillingham was chased by Alexandra Good of VIC, who stayed two body lengths behind and occupied fifth position of the race by producing a time of 2 minutes and 21.88 seconds.
Sixth best spot of the event was obtained by Jessica Adams of VIC, who was 1.06 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 22.94 seconds.
Adams was trailed by Brittany Barnes of NSW, who was 0.30 seconds behind and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 23.24 seconds.
Last spot of the event was chased by Micaela Habib of SA, who failed to overpower any of her opponents and hit the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 23.34 seconds.
In addition, Bowles expressed happiness over her victory in the 200m event and said that she would try to achieve the same in future events.
