Question:

Alarm comes on for no reason while driving?

What can cause this? I have a 2001 Pontiac Aztek, and while I'm driving the alarm will turn on and keep going till I deactivate it with the panic button on the FOB.

Sometimes it will just honk once and everything on the dashboard will go dim or turn off for a second, and then it comes right back on. This is getting to be very annoying.

Anyone know what might cause that?

  1. What do you have an alarm for? Unless you have a beeper/buzzer on your FOB how are you going to know if someone is trying to get in your vehicle if you're in shopping, in the woods, and any other places you could be.

Just disconect it until you have to take it in for an oil change then ask the attendant.

  2. Yes--you have an electrical problem that needs to be fixed at the dealer--before the electrical system dies out all together.

  3. You may have a defective main controller assembly or even a bad remote controller.

  4. Also, check for short or pinch in the wiring somewhere.  Had horn that whould go off for no reason at all & friend of mine had problem with wipers that was traced to a wiring problem.  Good luck!!

  5. there is a reason.      1.   something is wrong       or    2.     alarm is broken
