  1. chopper ride to the top of a glacier

  2. You probably won't see much without getting off the ship. But there are lots of Eagle, Moose, Bear etc. in the wild

  3. My very first cruise was to Alaska, and it remains the best so far.  We went on Princess, who really do it up right, and will be returning to Alaska on Princess this September.

We saw the most wildlife when we took the White Pass Railroad ride at Skagway:  bears, deer, and eagles.  The ride up into the mountains is amazingly beautiful.  Everyone rushes for the front cars, but go for the last car and you'll have unparalleled sightseeing out the back of the train.

  4. I have been to Alaska twice, once on a cruise and then on business trip that included a lot of sightseeing.     When you do an Alaska cruise, or even if you just go to Alaska on tour, the chances of seeing wildlife vary.   Guides and people who live in Alaska know where certain types of wildlife generally hang out.

When you cruise the inside passage you will likely see eagles, like in the city of Juneau.  You may or may not see any whales while on ship; it just depends.  You may see some seals while on ship.

The best way to see wildlife is to do what's called an Alaska cruise-tour.  On a cruise tour you do a land tour either before or after the cruise part.  The cruise tour offers the opportunity to stop at one or more of several places between Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska.  The best place to see wildlife on the cruise tour is in Denali National Park.  When we did our cruise tour we saw moose (mother and calf), caribou, dall sheep, fox, wolf, and eagles.  We did not see any bear because we did not take the Park Service's tour which goes deep into the park where the bears are numerous.

  5. Wildlife in Alaska is all over however when and you may see them really comes down to luck especially with wolves and time of year. You can see whales from the ship, bald eagles & seals. A cruisetour is the best way. When taking the train fro Whitter or some lines use a bus they will stop when wildlife is seen. There are many whale watching tours you can take. But, only go on the ones guaranteed. The tour in Denali will give you a berrer chance to see more wildlife. In Fairbanks there is a sternwheeler cruise that takes you to a native Indian village where you can see wildlife. But, the bottom line is you have to be at the right place at the right time. I have gone there 23 times & sometimes you see more than other times. It is truly an AMAZING place to visit. Either call or visit Princess.com or 1-800- Princess & they will send you afree DVD on Alaska or any place else they sail to.

    ENJOY.
