Alaska cruisetour for honeymoon...?

We are taking an Royal Carribean cruise tour to alaska the beginning of Sept for our honeymoon... and are starting to think about the excursions... we want to take a helicopter to a glacier... would it be best to do this in Skagway, Ketchikan or Juneau?? and any thoughts on what the weather will be like sept 1st to 12th???

We did an Alaska cruise in Sept. 2005. The weather was generally in the mid 50's, though when the wind was blowing on deck it felt much colder.

If you are going to do a helicopter tour, do it in either Juneau or Ketchikan if offered both places. In Juneau you'll probably go to Hubbard Glacier, which we saw on a land tour.

Ketchikan is very rainy. There is not as much to do there as the other ports in my opinion. The Lumberjack show is cute. Don't waste your money on the Indian Village Totem Pole place.

In Skagway, look for the White Pass and Yukon Railroad excursions. The one we did took us up the mountain by train and back down by bus. We also stopped at Liarsville for a show on the way back. Very good tour.

Because you are going at the end of the season, look for sales at the shops. In Skagway we got golf shirts for $5.00 and t-shirts for $2.50. They were blowing out the inventory as the cruise ships won't be back again until May. There was a great store not far from the train station.

I have been to Alaska on 22 cruisetours & you both will Love it. In Ketchikan go to Salom Mall at end of peir. All stores have 50% off sales. Helicopter Either Ketchikan or Juneau. Either will take you to the glaciers. If you actually want to land on one then you will need to check them out. Weather is nice. Average around 70. In Juneau visit Alaska T-Shirt. Skagway not much there, however if you have a mind too you can rent mopeds and run around. Train ride is big there. All the Best.
